About me

I'm Julien Dotte, a 28-year-old digital product designer, with a mission to connect the needs of businesses with those of users. Often, companies ask to designer to design what they would like but rarely what they truly need. My role is to help companies to understand that desigining a digital product is more complex and how to integrate user-centred design to make their product usable and delightful.

How I became Designer

One day, I happened to be watching an interview on the streaming channel ‘O'gaming’. In this interview, two people from Ogaming were asking questions to a Community Manager from Riot Games, the studio behind the globally popular video game ‘League of Legends’. As he answered the questions, I found myself thinking, ‘This job looks great! Why not me?’ I was 17 at the time. Reading articles on the internet and watching videos on YouTube convinced me that this was what I wanted to do. In the end, I enrolled at IESA Multimedia, a school that trains students in project management, strategy, graphic design and development.

When I started out, I specialised in graphic design. But when I quickly discovered the existence of UX Design, it was like a revelation. I no longer wanted to be a community manager, but a UX Designer. I wanted to combine my creative skills with my analytical abilities in my future work. It was through hard work that, in my third year, I started a work-study placement as a UX designer at Odigo. It was my first step in my career as a digital product designer.

Daily life

In my daily life, I like to turn on my computer to create things. When it's not interfaces, it's logos, stories, or creative projects such as creating a role-playing game.

Otherwise, I play online video games with friends. I really enjoy fantasy art: painting, literature and games mainly. I definitely developed this fascination for this type of art during my childhood, playing with LEGO sets featuring castles, knights, magicians and orcs...
